I'm familiar-ish with Nier Rein and the stageplay and I have played (most of) the new Replicant... i'll finish it this year on god. I haven't watched the anime and I'm unlikely to, but I'm cool with playing with characters from the anime!
Info: A2 is an experimental combat android designed as a revolutionary new product in a long line of antimachine units. The setting of Nier: Automata is a wartorn Earth overrun by nature, set in the far future. Humanity has long since fled Earth for the Moon, and developed YoRHa androids in response to a machine scourge that appeared when aliens invaded the planet. A2 is one of a group of sixteen YoRHa units sent topside to stop a major machine assault on Pearl Harbor. Left as the sole survivor in a mission that was designed to fail, she is branded a deserter of YoRHa and goes on the run. In comparison to her successors, Units 9S and 2B, A2 shows significant signs of wear and tear, and the black exoskeleton under her artificial skin is visible in places. She tends to vibe well with extroverts who will get her out of her shell, manic pixie dream people, and gentle, patient individuals. Conversely, she'll butt heads with fellow mean girls out there, fellow tsunderes/kuuderes... other robots who think humans are awful. Humans who think human beings are awful (she'll be conflicted). A2 slots well as a gruff and protective big sister/mentor figure type and her inquisitive, gentle nature makes her good for the role of that as a younger sibling/student type as well.
